摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve light utilization efficiency while achieving thinness, light weight, and low cost of a device. <P>SOLUTION: The surface light source device 11 includes a light source 12 and a light guide plate 13 which guides light from the light source 12 and is made of a plate body. The light guide plate 13 includes: a light guide plate body 15 having a rear face 16 to reflect light propagating inside, and an emitting face 17 to emit light propagating inside; and an incident end part 14 which is arranged integrally at the side part of the light guide plate body 15 and on which light from the light source 12 is incident. The incident end part 14 has: an incident face 18 which receives light from the light source 12; and an inclined face 19 which is inclined against the incident face 18 so as to reflect the light emitted from the light source 12 entered through the incident face 18 toward the light guide plate body 15 side.
