PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for selecting a representative image in removal of image duplication. SOLUTION: The method for selecting a representative image in removal of image duplication includes: extracting a plurality of identical images; adding the plurality of identical images to a search object to perform an image search based on a keyword input by a user to the search object; and displaying, when displaying a search result related to the image search, a representative image of the plurality of identical images. A duplicated identical image is not removed prior to a search request by the user, but is removed when the search based on the keyword input by the user is executed, whereby a representative image containing the keyword input by the user is displayed as the search result to enhance the user's convenience for the search result.
