PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film for controlling angular characteristics of a display. SOLUTION: A light-interference display device is provided by having an external film 605 using a plurality of structures that reduce the field of view of the display. For example, non-imaging optical elements, such as baffles 603 or compound parabola focusing devices, can be included. The baffles, for example, can include a plurality of surfaces which are arranged in a grid to be aligned in a vertical direction. The baffles are opaque or have reflectiveness. Therefore, these vertical surfaces 610 can substantially block light from exiting the light-interference display device in a substantially non-vertical direction 607. However, the vertical surfaces allow light directed in a substantially vertical direction to exit the display. The non-imaging optical elements, for example, compound parabola focusing devices, redirect light from large incident angles to more vertical angles towards the display. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
