PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a whitening liquid cosmetic containing 4-methoxy salicylic acid or a salt thereof as a whitening agent, the cosmetic being extremely improved in feeling on use (particularly stickiness and creaking) and excellent in a whitening effect. SOLUTION: The liquid cosmetic includes (A) 0.7-5.0 mass% of 4-methoxy salicylic acid or a salt thereof, (B) 0.001-3.0 mass% of hyaluronic acid or a derivative thereof, and (C) 0.01-1.0 mass% of xanthane gum, based on the whole amount of the liquid cosmetic.
