<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for supporting traveling determining whether an object is present or not on a route where traveling is supported at a low processing cost. <P>SOLUTION: As a traveling control point Q is a point virtually provided on a traveling route RT1-RT3, an obstacle determining region E in the traveling control point Q is a part of an actual traveling region F1. Therefore, as the region obtained by summing up all the obstacle determining regions E in respective traveling control points Q can be regarded as the traveling region of a vehicle 1, whether the obstacle is present or not on the traveling route RT1-RT3 can be determined by determining whether the obstacle is present or not inside the obstacle determining region E of the vehicle 1 for respective traveling control points. Accordingly, calculation of the traveling region F1 where the vehicle 1 actually travels is not required, calculation of a complicated region is not necessary and the processing cost can be suppressed.
