PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner with an air passage switching valve which is prevented from falling down even when dust etc. is sucked through a nozzle part in a condition that an extension pipe is removed. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes a nozzle unit 20 connected to a handy handle 8, an extension pipe detachably connected to the nozzle unit 20, and a floor suction tool detachably connected to the extension pipe. The nozzle unit 20 sucks air through the extension pipe when the extension pipe is connected to a connection port 24 by an air passage switching valve 26, and sucks air through the nozzle part 40 when the extension pipe is removed. The air passage switching valve 26 turns clockwise centering on a shaft 27 to open a connection port 24 and close a communication port 25 by inserting a connection part of the extension pipe into a shaft connection port 24.
