<p>Provided is a liquid crystal display device wherein it is possible to suppress the occurrence of flicker. A liquid crystal display device is provided with a first substrate and a second substrate which are paired, and a liquid crystal layer which is sandwiched between both substrates, wherein: the liquid crystal layer contains liquid crystal molecules having a positive dielectric anisotropy; the liquid crystal molecules align perpendicular to the plane of the first substrate when no voltage is applied; the first substrate is provided with a pixel electrode, a common electrode, an insulating film, and a lower-layer wire which is connected to the pixel electrode; the lower-layer wire, insulating film, and common electrode are laminated towards the side of the liquid crystal layer in said order; an image signal is supplied to the pixel electrode via the lower-layer wire; the pixel electrode has a pixel comb-shaped section, and the common electrode has a common comb-shaped section; in planar view, the pixel comb-shaped section and the common comb-shaped section are disposed facing each other in a pixel; two or more regions, in which the spacing between the pixel electrode and the common electrode differs, are formed within a pixel; the lower-layer wire superimposes onto the common comb-shaped section and extends along the common comb-shaped section; the width of the lower-layer wire is essentially the same as the width of the common comb-shaped section or is smaller than the width thereof.</p> |
