<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method and an image processing system, which can sharpen an image without accentuating noise occurring by compression processing even when expansion processing is performed after decompression processing, in a system where image data is subjected to compression processing and then is subjected to decompression processing to perform display processing. <P>SOLUTION: In an image processing method of performing decompression processing after compression processing on original image data and further performing display processing on the original image data to generate display image data having a prescribed image size, pre-compression processing is performed before the compression processing of the original image data, wherein frequency control processing for high-frequency use corresponding to an image size in the display processing after the decompression processing is performed and the size of image data for high-frequency use is reduced to generate image data having a size equal to or smaller than an original image size.
