The overvoltage protection device (1) has an optoelectric transmitting- or receiving unit (3). An electrical operating parameter of the overvoltage protection device is optically emitted with the optoelectric transmitting- or receiving unit after an optically received standards. An electrical energy is received with the optoelectric transmitting- or receiving unit for optical transmission. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an arrangement with an evaluation unit; and (2) a method for operating an operating condition of an overvoltage protection device.
