<p>PURPOSE: A steering control method of an active front wheel steering system is provided to make precise and safe AFS control possible by selecting a driving mode by vehicle speed and tuning a gear ratio according to a steering angle per each mode, and to minimize difference which a driver feels in a low speed driving mode or a high speed driving mode by limiting the total rotational frequency of a steering wheel. CONSTITUTION: A steering control method of an active front wheel steering system comprises the steps of: storing a steering gear ratio table by a driving mode and a steering angle; if the variation of the steering angle exceeds the critical value, applying the vehicle speed and the steering angle of a vehicle to the steering gear ratio table and detecting the steering gear ratio according the vehicle speed and the steering angel of the vehicle, and then varying the steering gear ratio of the vehicle into the detected steering gear ratio(S32,S34,S35); and if the variation of the steering angle does not exceed the critical value, fixing the steering gear ratio of the vehicle(S36).</p> |
