PURPOSE: A method for eliminating volatile organic compounds using ferrous ions contained in the scrubber water of an iron works is provided to reduce the amount of precipitation byproducts and recycle the scrubber water. CONSTITUTION: Scrubber water is collected(S1). The scrubber water contains volatile organic compounds, and liquid peroxide is diluted according to the concentration of the scrubber water(S2). The liquid peroxide is introduced into the scrubber water(S3). The volatile organic compounds are oxidized and eliminated through a fenton oxidation reaction using ferrous ions contained in the scrubber water(S4). In the fenton oxidation reaction, hydroxyl radial is generated and oxidizes the volatile organic compounds. |
