PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder for accurately and appropriately adjusting the amount of recording media to be transferred in a sub-scanning direction. SOLUTION: A plurality of reference patterns P1 in which a bright part L and a dark part D are repeated at a fixed cycle are formed in a main scanning direction of a recording medium. After the transfer of the recording medium, an adjusting pattern P2 in which phases of a bright part and a dark part in a sub-scanning direction are shifted gradually relative to the reference pattern P1 is overlaid on each of the plurality of reference patterns P1 of the recording medium. Therefore, a test pattern image in which optical density varies at a fixed cycle is formed. A low density patch pattern image and a high density patch pattern image are specified from the test pattern. A corrected value of the amount of media to be transferred is calculated based of the shifted amount in the high density patch pattern image and the low density patch pattern image.
