PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating hermetic-type compressor having high efficiency and high productivity, and used in connection with a freezer cycle of an electric refrigerator, an air conditioner, a freezer-refrigeration device, and the like. SOLUTION: A projection 318 having sidewalls 318a, 318b, 318c extending almost parallel to the reciprocating direction of a piston 106 is formed at a distal end face 106a of piston 106. The projection 318 is arranged at a position eccentric than the axial center 128 of piston 106 to enter a discharge port 113 formed in a valve plate 111, which provides a highly efficient hermetic type compressor capable of reducing the dead volume of discharge port 113 and the loss in a compression chamber 125 and at the discharge port 113.
