PURPOSE: Liquid for eliminating and absorbing hydrogen sulfide from coke oven gas and a method for eliminating the hydrogen sulfide are provided to obtain clean fuel by selectively the hydrogen sulfide from the coke oven gas. CONSTITUTION: Absorbing liquid includes caustic soda and sodium hypochlorite. The pH of the absorbing liquid is between 10 and 12, preferably between 11 and 12, and the oxidation-reduction potential of the absorbing liquid is more than or equal to 450mV, preferably between 450 and 600mV. The liquid-gas ratio of the absorbing liquid is between 1.10 and 2.50 l/m^3, preferably between 1.25 and 2.32 l/m^3.
