PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrical connector that causes boosting force generated by the lever to increase and reliably preventing the wires from being pinched, and to provide an electrical connector assembly. SOLUTION: The arm portions 60 on both sides of the plug housing 31 are connected by a connection part 70 in the lever 40. A guide part 72 into which a projection portion 71 formed in the plug housing 31 enters is formed to the connection part 70, thereby preventing wires from being pinched in the space between the lever 40 and the plug housing 31 in any condition, from a temporary locking state in which the lever 40 is raised, to a state in which the lever 40 is pushed down. Further the guide part 72 has a projection portion 72b projecting toward the side away from the extended portion 42 and increase the angle (angle of aperture) that can raise the lever 40 with the projection portion 41 being engaged.
