PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent displacement of a gear shift lever from a predetermined gear with a vehicle travelling reducing vibration transmitted to the gear shift lever with a simple composition, regarding a transmission operating device. SOLUTION: The transmission operating device 1 which transmits operation force of the gear shift lever 2 to a transmission via a plurality of rods 5, 6 and levers 4a, 4c, includes a cross shaft 3 with its both ends fixed to a vehicle body 20, a projection part 3c formed on an outer peripheral surface of the cross shaft 3, an upper shaft 4 turnably externally fitted to the cross shaft 3, an upper lever 4a connected to the gear shift lever 2 via the first rod 5, a lower lever 4b connected to the transmission via the second rod 6, and a shock absorber 10 interposed between the projection part 3c and an end of the upper shaft 4 for biasing the upper shaft 4 to the vehicle-width direction.
