摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston ring which can remarkably reduce peeling of a hard carbon film even if a high contact pressure is applied on an outer peripheral slide surface. SOLUTION: The piston ring has a piston ring base material 1, a substrate film 2 which is provided on at least outer peripheral slidable surface of the piston ring base material 1 and a hard carbon film 3 with a thickness of 1μm or more and 7μm or less which is provided on the substrate film 2. The first piston ring 11 is configured so that the substrate film 2 comprises a Cr film 2a which is provided on the piston ring base material 1 and a Cr-N film 2b which is provided on the Cr film 2a. The second piston ring 12 is configured so that the substrate film 2 comprises a first Cr film 2a which is provided on the piston ring base material 1, the Cr-N film 2b which is provided on the first Cr film 2a, and the second Cr film 2c which is provided on the Cr-N film 2b and is in range of 2-5 in thickness when the hard carbon film 3 has a thickness of 100.
