PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid ejecting apparatus capable of rapidly and easily receiving a fluid ejected from a nozzle in a receiving member even when the linear receiving member is moved to a receiving position where the fluid ejected from the nozzle can be received. SOLUTION: The fluid ejecting apparatus includes: recording head 25A-25E each having the nozzle ejecting ink; a filament member 39 capable of receiving the ink ejected from the nozzle; a delivery part 41 and a winding part 42 for supporting the filament member 39 so as to linearly extend; a first and a second moving mechanism 43, 44 for moving the delivery part 41 and the winding part 42, between a first position and a second position; and a control part capable of changing the tension given to the filament member 39. The tension given to the filament member 39 is changed from a first tension to a second tension smaller than the first tension when the first and the second moving mechanism 43, 44 move the delivery part 41 and the winding part 42 from the second position to the first position.
