PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an organic light-emitting device that can remove a protective film without causing peel-off in a region boundary for protective film removal and can maintain the display performance and the high-quality of an organic light-emitting device over a long period of time without deteriorating a moisture-proof property of the protective film. SOLUTION: The method is used for manufacturing the organic light-emitting device with a structure that is electrically connected to an external circuit 13 by exposing an external connection terminal 9 from the protective film 10. The method sequentially includes: a removing step of removing the protective film 10 that is formed on the external connection terminal 9 by using the difference of a water absorption rate between the protective film 10 and an organic compound layer 7b; a mounting step of electrically connecting the external connection terminal 9 with an external circuit 13; and a forming step of forming a cover layer 15 covering the region boundary for the protective film removal.
