PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and quick method for measuring GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid), capable of simply, quickly and also accurately determining the GABA contained in a food raw material or a foodstuff even at an actual production place of the food raw material or foodstuff. SOLUTION: The GABA content in the sample is measured by effecting the GABA-containing sample with an enzyme having a single GABA-T (γ-aminobutyric acid transaminase) enzyme activity in the presence ofα-ketoglutaric acid to perform a GABA specific enzyme reaction and measuring the produced glutamic acid. As the enzyme effected as the enzyme having the single GABA-T enzyme activity to perform the GABA specific enzyme reaction, the GABA-T prepared by gene recombination can be cited. The simple and quick method for measuring the GABA can simply, quickly and also accurately determine the GABA contained in the food raw material or foodstuff even at the actual production place of the food raw material or foodstuff.
