PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving device of an instrument that can give novelty to expression in a performance operation and can improve commodity properties and design properties. SOLUTION: The instrument driving device includes the instrument 2 which makes a pointer rotate on a display board to show vehicle information and a display board illuminator 2a which illuminates the display board. The driving device includes a controller 2d which makes the instrument perform the performance operation different from an ordinary display operation, according to an input of a prescribed start signal, and which makes at least the display board illuminator 2d put on and then put off with gradual extinction, as the performance operation, so that a change of luminance is nonlinear and that a rate of extinction lessens with time.
