PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for tire, which improves both elongation at break and hardness of the tire and has excellent processability, and a pneumatic tire using the same. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for tire is formed by compounding 5-100 pts.mass of silica, 0.5-20 pts.mass of an epoxy resin such as a glycidyl ether-based epoxy resin, and 1-30 pts.mass of a resin having a hydroxyl group in the molecule based on 100 pts.mass of a diene-based rubber.
