PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tin oxide which is a transparent lump tin oxide and preferably has conductivity and porosity, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The transparent lump tin oxide is characterized by having the transparency of 10% or more of visible light transmittance in thickness of 5 mm, preferably being blackened by ultraviolet rays and returned to transparency by heating, having porosity of 10% or more of void ratio, and having conductivity of 10-10<SP>7</SP>Ωcm of specific resistance, and the transparent lump tin oxide is produced by adding tin chloride and hydrogen peroxide in the presence of water of excessive amount, precipitating tin oxide by heating this mixed solution, collecting this tin oxide precipitate, solidifying by gradually drying the collected tin oxide slurry, and calcining.
