PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and an over-voltage protection method thereof are provided to charge a battery by using an authorized over-voltage through a battery charger. CONSTITUTION: A port of an external charger inserts into An interface unit(170). An over-voltage protect unit(191) measures a voltage of an external power that is supplied through the battery charger if a port insertion of the battery charger is detected. The over-voltage protect unit confirms a critical voltage that is already measured whether excess and critical voltage excess power authorized time. The over-voltage protect unit disconnects the external power to supplies a battery and a system.
