Watches carried on supports 34, Figs. 1, 2, attached at intervals to an endless chain 29, driven by an electric motor (not shown), are brought successively, in step-wise fashion, to a working platform 28 where assembly operations may be carried out, a cover 1 protecting the watches from moisture and dust except when the supports 34 pass on to the platform 28 through an opening 33 in the cover 1. Each movement of the conveyer chain 29 is initiated by an operator momentarily closing a switch (not shown), the amount of movement being controlled by a cam 37 and a cut-out switch 38. In Fig. 10 the watches are carried on contacting supports 71 running in a guide 70. An endless chain 73 carries spaced supports 76 and is moved stepwise to carry the watches successively to a working position 76<SP>1</SP>. Synchronized with the chain 73 is a fork 77, one arm 77g of which feeds one of the supports 71 on to the chain 73 while the other arm 776 moves one of the supports 71 of the chain 73. The watches on the supports 71 on the guide 70 are within a cover 1 and pass through an opening 79 to reach the working position 76<SP>1</SP>. In Fig. 11 watches 82 on supports 81 on a guide 80 are brought successively to a working position over a platform 83 by a star wheel 85, the watches not over the platform 83 being protected by a cover 1. The driving means may be compressed air driving a piston sliding in a cylinder or pedal means actuated by the knee or hand of the assembly worker. |
