POWER CONVERTER AND CONTROLLING METHOD THEREOF, AND DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A DC-DC converter, and a controlling method thereof, and a display device using the same are provided to reduce the light load standby power of the display device without the deterioration of display quality in a burst mode. CONSTITUTION: A burst mode circuit operates when a load connected to an output terminal is a preset load value or less. A PWM mode circuit operates if the load is larger than the preset load value. A burst mode circuit switches the voltage of the output terminal when the feedback voltage inputted from the output terminal rises up to the high potential reference voltage. The burst mode circuit generates a switch start signal of a frequency which is divided with a preset division value and switches the voltage of the output terminal according to the switch start signal. The PWM mode circuit switches the voltage of the output terminal when a ramp wave voltage is larger than the difference voltage between the PWM mode reference voltage and the feedback voltage.
