PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for shift control of an automatic transmission by which an undershoot in off-upshifting is appropriately learned, and a stable shift-control can be performed. SOLUTION: A selective on-upshifting control or off-upshifting-control is executed by setting a threshold A for power-on upshifting/power-off upshifting on the basis of information on engine speed and load, and the undershoot of input rotation in power-off upshifting is appropriately controlled by the learning control. Learning-execution judgement value B is established on the side of power-off upshifting of the threshold A of power-on upshifting/power-off upshifting, and the region between the threshold A and the learning-execution judgement value B is taken as learning-control-inhibiting region.
