摘要 <p>The invention relates to a laser system for igniting the internal combustion engines, meant to operate as a system for igniting the air-fuel mixture in the engine ignition chamber. According to the invention, the laser system consists in a passively switched laser which uses a crystalline or ceramic composite type active laser medium doped with ions absorbing a pumping radiation (7) having attached thereto, by thermal diffusion, other two elements helping to efficiently introduce the pumping radiation (7) into the active medium, a non-doped prism (6) and to passively switching a laser (5), pumped with laser diodes through an optical fibre, directly attached to the inlet surface of the prism (6), having an optical reservoir consisting of an extraction mirror (14) and the mirror consisting of some thin dielectric layers (13) of high reflectivity, deposited directly onto the plane surface of the passive switch, a laser active material being located into a laser resonator, said material having the shape of a parallelepipedon with the base side much smaller than the length and which ensures a homogenous absorption of the pumping laser beam and by its form ensures the elimination of the lens collimating and focusing the pumping radiation (7), eliminating the possibility that pumping photons open the passive switch before reaching the population inversion maximum value and has a stable operation up to 150°C, being insensitive to vibrations.</p>
