PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator suppressing abrasion and elongating life of a member used in attachment and connection of a guard board by improving an attachment structure of the guard board to a footstep, and a connecting structure of adjoining guard boards. SOLUTION: The escalator includes; a plurality of the footsteps 20 circularly running between platforms; a plurality of the guard boards 25 formed like sector flat plates, connecting top part sides to portions in one end sides in a depth direction of side faces in a width direction of treadboards 21 to rotate around a first rotary axis wherein an axial direction matches the width direction of the treadboard 21, and disposed in a row in a connection direction of the footsteps 20; and a connection arm 32 connecting the adjoining guard boards 25 by respectively connecting one end such that an axial direction freely rotates around a second rotary axis in parallel with the first rotary axis in the top part side of one guard board 25 of the adjoining guard boards 25, and another end such that an axial direction freely rotates around a third rotary axis in parallel with the first rotary axis in an arc side of the other guard board 25 adjoined to the top part side of the one guard board.
