<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic camera that reduces power consumption with ensured operability. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 16 repeatedly outputs raw image data representing a field in front of a camera housing. A CPU 30 requests an LCD unit 36, which has a monitor screen 40 facing the back of the camera housing, to display a through-image based on the raw image data output from the imaging apparatus 16. Furthermore, the CPU 30 selects any one of a plurality of imaging modes including self-portrait mode, in response to a mode selecting operation and adjusts imaging conditions under a mode corresponding to the imaging mode selected. Moreover, when the self-portrait mode is selected, the CPU 30 restricts a display operation of the LCD unit 36 after the lapse of three seconds from the mode selecting operation.
