PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp driving device capable of attaining reduced cost by reducing the number of switching elements and omitting installation of a choke coil used for prevention of rush current by preparing two transformers. SOLUTION: One of the first and second switching elements SW1, SW2 is turned on when the other is turned off since phases of high frequency pulse voltage respectively applied to gates of first and second switching elements SW1, SW2 are respectively made into opposite phases. Consequently, the primary winding of a transformer wherein current does not flow immediately after lighting a discharge tube can restrain rush current which is going to flow to the primary winding of the transformer wherein current flows since the current alternately flows in time to the primary windings of first and second transformers T1, T2.
