PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp device capable of early detecting that a heat conductor begins to leak, in one equipped with a heat-conductor-sealing type electrode. SOLUTION: The discharge lamp device is provided with a discharge lamp with a heat-conductor-sealing type electrode and a lamp-lighting state monitoring mechanism. The lamp-lighting state monitoring mechanism is so structured to measure a lamp voltage value of the discharge lamp for each constant micro time interval, and, with a constant length of time interval involving a plurality of lamp voltage measurement values as a unit sampling period, repeats a central value adopting treatment adopting the maximum amplitude value shown by a difference between a maximum value and a minimum value of the lamp voltage measurement values during the unit sampling period as a central value during the unit sampling period for each ensuing unit sampling period, and, has a function of sending a lamp disorder detecting signal by detecting that the maximum amplitude value exceeds an allowance range set.
