PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce manufacturing cost and to positively open a flap without requiring periodic adjustment. SOLUTION: In the paper feeder, it is assumed that an envelope 70 with a flap 72 folded toward a flap face 71b of an envelope body 71 is conveyed by a paper feeding roller 35 of a paper feeding part such that another end of the envelope body 71 is in the front. A conveyance roller 41 has an outer peripheral surface 41a, and it conveys the envelope 70 in a conveyance direction downstream by contacting an address face of the envelope body 71 of the envelope 70 conveyed from the paper feeding roller 35 to the outer peripheral surface 41a. Then, since the envelope 70 is conveyed along the outer peripheral surface 41a, the envelope body 71 is bent and the flap 72 is opened. A flap abutting part 42 is provided below the conveyance roller 41, it is inserted into a space 74 between the envelope body 71 contacting the outer peripheral surface 41a and the flap 72, and it abuts on the flap 72. Then, the envelope body 71 is conveyed in the conveyance direction downstream while the flap 72 abuts on the flap abutting part 42. By this, the flap 72 can be positively opened.
