<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a catalytic converter which suppresses deterioration of a purifying function of the catalytic converter, and the catalytic converter. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the catalytic converter 9 includes a first process of winding a metal catalyst carrier 1 in the form of a cylindrical roll, a second process of inserting the metal catalyst carrier 1 into an approximately cylindrical outer cylinder 5 having an internal diameter larger than the cylindrical roll-shaped metal catalyst carrier 1 and having a plurality of projections (rods 6) on the inner periphery, a third process of reducing the diameters of the outer cylinder 5 and the metal catalyst carrier 1 from the outer periphery side of the outer cylinder 5, and a fourth process of performing diffusion bonding by heating the outer cylinder 5 and the metal catalyst carrier 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
