PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce floating height of a floating head and to prolong durability of the floating head. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing a magnetic disk, the magnetic disk 11 is rotated, and floating of the floating head 12 is maintained above the rotated magnetic disk. The floating head 12 has a slider body 121 and an element section 122 formed on a trailing end surface 211. A section of the slider body 121 is made to protrude, by applying power to a heater element 221 in the element section and a section of the slider body 121 and the magnetic disk 11 are brought into contact with each other, in such a state that the element section 122 is separated from the magnetic disk 11.
