PURPOSE: A substation automation system device based on iec-61850 and control method thereof are provided to easily construct an automatic system of substation by displaying the image on a configuring screen by generating an image about a searched device. CONSTITUTION: A smart input-output device(110) monitors substation network and searches a new IEC-61850 device. A tag information configuration unit(118) reads and tags information of the searched IEC-61850 device. The tag information configuration unit transmits the tagged information. A storage unit stores the tagged information.
