PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the table size of appearance probabilities and reduce the required memory capacity by limiting the directions of incremental code calculation for pixels around a pixel of interest selected in a processed image. SOLUTION: An image processor includes: a luminance value difference calculation means which selects a pixel of interest from the processed image, compares each of the plurality of neighboring pixels located in a predetermined range with the pixel of interest, and calculates the difference in luminance value; and a feature amount generation means which calculates the feature amount based on the relative positional relation of the difference in luminance values calculated by the luminance value difference calculation means with each of the pixel of interest and the plurality of neighboring pixels, and generates a feature amount image. The luminance value difference calculation means calculates the difference of one of the neighboring pixels with the pixel of interest for two of the neighboring pixels point-symmetric to each other with respect to the pixel of interest.
