PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic analyzer having a pretreatment mechanism capable of performing a rapid automatic re-inspection and controlling the consumption of an original specimen and a pretreatment solution. SOLUTION: The automatic analyzer includes: an original specimen container for storing the original specimen; a pretreatment container for pretreating the original specimen dispensed from the original specimen container; an original specimen dispensing mechanism for dispensing the original specimen to the pretreatment container; a reaction container for analyzing the pretreated specimen dispensed from the pretreatment container; and a pretreated specimen dispensing mechanism for dispensing the pretreated specimen to the reaction container, wherein a control mechanism is provided for controlling the dispensing of the original specimen from the original specimen container to the pretreatment container by the original specimen dispensing mechanism, based on at least any of the information whether the automatic re-inspection is set or not, and the information on the kind of the specimen.
