PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a defect detection device having performance equivalent to conventional performance. SOLUTION: The defect detection device 50 for detecting defects in a weak pin 30 includes a carbon rod 53, a soft holding tube 55 for holding the carbon rod 53, and lead wires 57A, 57B connected to a shaft end of the carbon rod 53. Thus, when the weak pin 30 turns defective, the carbon rod 53 is cracked to get continuity interrupted. As a result, a defect in the weak pin 30 can be detected. Also, since an external shock is absorbed by the holding tube 55, nearly no shock is applied to the carbon rod 53 except in a defect of the weak pin 30, thus eliminating a risk of an unintentional defect in the carbon rod 53.
