A method for data card upgrades and a device, related to the field of data cards, are disclosed. The method and device can realize data card upgrades without a data card drive program installed on a personal computer (PC) so as to facilitate the data card upgrades by a user. The method involves realizing the connection between the computer and the data card via a standard device interface of the computer. The data card is virtualized into a standard device of the computer. The type information, subtype information and protocol information of the standard device is obtained via the standard device interface. A system drive is determined corresponding to the standard device according to the obtained information, and a system drive upgrade service is provided for the data card. |
