RELAY APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PROTECTING A PATH THEREOF

PURPOSE: A relay and a path protection method thereof are provided to automatically change a path in order that ONUs connected to a cut path can be connected to the other path together. CONSTITUTION: An ONU(Optical Network Unit) optical module changes a received optical signal into an electric signal(S401). A DL signal processor extracts a frame from the electric signal(S402). In case a first path is cut, a signal control unit activates a second path(S403,S404). A DL switching unit selects one of the first path and the second path(S405). The DL switching unit respectively transfers a received DL signal to a corresponding OLT(Optical Line Terminal) optical module(S406). The OLT optical module changes the DL signal into an optical signal(S407).
