The pump (1) has an eccentric tappet (3) driven in a rotating manner, and a path limitation unit (37) provided for pump pistons (39), which are designed as stepped pistons. The limitation unit limits stroke of the pump pistons towards the eccentric tappet. The pump pistons are lifted from a circumference of the eccentric tappet in a temporary manner when the eccentric tappet is removed from the pump pistons. The path limitation unit has a stopper and a ring (35), which is arranged in a pump borehole (27) and surrounds the pump pistons.
