PURPOSE: A remote controller for transmitting a character to an electronic device and a control method thereof are provided to quickly input characters to an STB(Set Top Box) having a slow response rate. CONSTITUTION: A remote controller receives the input of characters from a user(S303). A controller converts the character to a digital code(S304). If the user presses a confirm button, the controller outputs the character through a display interface(S305). If the user presses a send button, the controller transmits the character through a communication unit to the receiver of an electronic device(S306,S307). The controller decides whether a feedback signal is received from the electronic device(S308).
