<p>944,280. Pneumatic suspensions for vehicles. FABBRICA ITALIANA MAGNETI MARELLI S.p.A. May 27, 1960 [June 26, 1959], No. 18750/60. Heading B7D. A compressed air control system for pneumatic vehicle-suspensions, particularly trailers, comprises a reservoir tank S connected by a pipe to at least one self-acting chassis height adjusting device H, K, an electrically operated control valve E which when energized supplies air to the device H, K and an auxiliary control valve Da having connections to the tank both by a direct pipe 41 and, by 1 and 3<SP>1</SP> through the control valve E in such a way that the supply of air to or from the height adjusting device H, K can be effected by one or other connection depending on the position of a control element 10 of the auxiliary valve Da. The control element 10 has internal channels 7 and 12 which, when the valve Da is at its normal setting as shown in Fig. 2, and the valve E is energized, compressed air is fed through pipe 3<SP>1</SP> to the device H, K, and when the valve E is not energized, air is exhausted by the same route to outlets in the valve E. Operation of the push rod 11 causes the head of the tube 12 to lift a valve 13 off its seat so that compressed air is supplied by pipe 4<SP>1</SP> direct from the tank S and the channel 12 closed.</p> |
