摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To treat and control sulfur dioxide blown on a lower surface of a glass ribbon in a slow cooling furnace so as to form a protective coating for crack prevention. SOLUTION: A glass ribbon molded on a float bath and pulled up from the float bath in a lift out part is conveyed to a slow cooling furnace in which the glass ribbon is slowly cooled to the strain point temperature of the glass or below; sulfur dioxide for forming a sulfate protective layer for crack prevention is supplied from nozzles arranged in an upstream part of the slow cooling furnace to a lower surface of the glass ribbon during conveyance in the slow cooling furnace; the atmospheric gas in the slow cooling furnace is sucked into an exhaust chamber disposed in a region on a downstream side of the nozzles, so that the sulfur dioxide is guided to the exhaust chamber while forming a flow of the sulfur dioxide around the glass ribbon in the conveyance direction of the glass ribbon; and excess sulfur dioxide is discharged to the outside.
