PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system allowing suppression of wasteful power consumption.

SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of image forming apparatus includes: a calculation means calculating a change amount of power conversion efficiency to a change amount of power consumption when each image forming apparatus is transferred to a power saving state from a standby state based on power consumption information and power conversion efficiency information related to standby states and power saving states related to one or more other image forming apparatus obtained by reception by a communication means, and power consumption information and power conversion efficiency information related to the standby state and the power saving state related to its own apparatus; and a control means making the own apparatus in the standby state function as an image forming apparatus performing a proxy response when a calculation result related to the own apparatus is maximum in a calculation result of the calculation means, and performing control to transfer the own apparatus in the standby state to the power saving state when the calculation result related to the own device is not maximum.
