PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus for vehicle, in which a gradation display on the periphery of a liquid crystal display panel is made clearer and a luminous display portion of the liquid crystal display panel is made to look larger. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display apparatus 1 for vehicles includes: the liquid crystal display panel 2 held by a metallic sheet 24; a light non-transmitting plate 6 through the open hole 61, of which a center portion of the liquid crystal display panel 2 is made visible from the light non-transmitting plate 6; and a light guide body 5, which is formed to be bent from the front position of a light source 31 to the front position of the outer edge of the open hole 61 of the light non-transmitting plate 6 and emits a light X, emitted from the light source 31 toward the front of the outer edge of the open hole 61. The liquid crystal display apparatus 1, further, includes a large number of prism shapes 55 are formed on the front surface 520 of the bent tip 52 of the light guide body 5, to refract forward the light X refracted on a refracting/reflecting plane 54. The prism shapes 55 are arranged, in such a state that the amount of light to be refracted becomes larger, as going from the outside of the liquid crystal display panel to the center side.
