An arithmetic processing device of an image selection device provides functions as an image obtaining unit, an area division unit, and a selection unit. The image obtaining unit obtains a plurality of taken images which are obtained by successively taking images of a subject. On the basis of two successive taken images in chronological order out of the plurality of taken images, the area division unit divides the image area of the taken images into a motion area, in which positions between the two taken images are different from each other by a predetermined amount or more, and a non-motion area, which is an area except the motion area. The selection unit selects at least one taken image from the plurality of taken images on the basis of a blur amount of the image in the non-motion area.
