<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film-forming composition to be used in liquid crystal displays, recording materials for hard discs, solid imaging elements, solar cell panels light-emitting diodes, organic luminescent devices, luminescent films, fluorescent films, MEMS, actuators, antireflective materials, resists, resist lower layer films, resist upper layer films or templates (molds) for nanoimprinting use. <P>SOLUTION: The film-forming composition comprises a block copolymer comprising: a polymer chain (A) including a monomer (a) as a structural unit, and adjacent at least one polymer chain (B) including a monomer (b) different from the monomer (a) as a structural unit; a crosslinking agent; and an organic solvent.
