PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove volatile components like VOC (volatile organic compound) or malodor from a printed matter even in a stacked state of the printed matter. SOLUTION: The volatile components are removed from the printed matter by immersing the printed matter subjected to printing on the surface of a sheet-like matter consisting of fiber in a washing liquid 5 consisting of a liquid phase fluorine solvent. Here, the printed matter is immersed in the washing liquid 5 with a plurality of the printed matter stacked, and washed. The washing method includes a first washing promotion process of compressing the stacked matter in the stacking direction and releasing the compression in the washing liquid 5, when immersing the stacked matter in the washing liquid 5; and a second washing promotion process of compressing the stacked matter in the stacking direction and draining, when taking out the stacked matter immersed in the washing liquid 5.
